A plump, spherical Snezhnayan fish, this species might look like a distant cousin to the pufferfish found throughout Teyvat. However, the two actually belong to entirely separate lineages. When the Fishing Association first recorded it, its code name was "Snowland Roundfin." After more than a dozen generations of anglers, this informal name gradually evolved into "Snowfin."\nFolklore claims the Moonlight Snowfin has the strongest endurance and the best sense of direction of any Snezhnayan fish, its unusual coloration being a gift from moonlight — its ancestors, so the story goes, once traveled far to the waters of Nod-Krai and were baptized in moonbeams. Merchants returning from Nod-Krai deny the tale, and biologists point out that the color most likely comes from the underwater plants it favors as food. But since "moonlight" is such a pleasant and memorable prefix, the name has stuck to this day.
